I’ve been meaning to make this post for a while now but couldn’t because I love to show workings when it comes to posts like these. Not that I can’t get random pictures on the internet to make you understand what I’m talking about. I just love that I can relate to the topic and I want you to relate to it too. For me, that’s where the magic lies.
I made a post on two-piece Ankara outfits last week and believe me, I had to pinch myself after I clicked on ‘publish’. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I wore anything made of Ankara. It’s been a year now, if not more. And there I was, preaching and vibrating excitedly.
Well, that’s one thing about most motivational speakers, preach it till they believe you… But that’s about to change because I went back to retrace my steps.
I made this Ankara crop top from my mum’s scarf and few patches from a lace material I stole from her shop. I ‘did’ that a lot, I mean the ‘stealing‘ part. Because she would never give them to me without blackmailing me into doing something for her. So, I always ‘steal’ them and blame the devil for it. However that sanctifies my soul, I don’t know.
So, guys…
The initial plan was to wear the blouse to three or four different places before making this post. Unfortunately, I had nowhere to go, yet. Considering the whole lockdown and all, and the fact that I work from home.
At this point guys, I can swear my great Aunt’s sitting room would be cussing me out because I’ve literally turned it into my photo studio. I mean, walls have ears but ever imagined if they could talk? …they better don’t!
Whether my ‘photo studio’ likes it or not. I rocked my Ankara blouse in four different ways and made sure I took a thousand pictures to appease the selfie freak in me. And I will continue taking more till I have somewhere to go.
How I rocked my Ankara blouse in four different looks
The first look…
This was the original look. I made the skirt from a white ‘aso oke’ fabric to match with the white lace designs on the blouse. Actually, I made this outfit for a wedding I and my bestie attended in our 400 level as ‘uninvited’ guests. But we really needed that weekend getaway from school work, anyways. And it was worth it!
For the final look that day, I wore a white block heel and matched it with an orange purse.
And… I can’t end this post without this testimony, Guys! You see that hand at my back? I was holding the waistline from showing n the picture, because “I got fat!! and the zip wouldn’t close! plus I had to cross my leg because it was too tight around my knee ” You should have seen the struggle to wear that skirt…
I’m so happy! I had to shape this skirt twice before I could wear it again sometime last year. Now see what the Lord has done for his daughter, my enemies have been put to shame!😂 My mum needs to hear this, by the way. BRB!
The second look…
I wore my blouse with Mama jeans which I ripped at the knee and hem to achieve the crazy look. Also, I matched it with a brown heel. I used a brown belt when I tucked it in as you can see in the first two pictures. Just in case you want your waist ‘snatched‘, with a belt.
For me, I can’t come and kill myself. I ‘unsnatched‘ my waist in the third frame because I was already panting when no one was chasing me.
Still in the spirit of testimony, this jean used to be baggy but look at me now! At this point, I want to hear y’all sing “It shall be permanent...!”
The third look…
I matched the blouse with high-waist skinny jeans, a jean jacket and orange heels.
Sassy! Chic! Sexy! just the way you love it!
She’s bad in this game, yeah? I’m sure she knows. But, you can be ‘badder’ too!
The final look…
Here, I wore a simple black high-waist palazzo and a white block heel.
With the right accessories and makeup, or maybe not, You can wear this to church or any occasion at all and still make heads turn. Wanna bet?
Finally,
I’m sure you’re expecting me to work some crazy magic here, right? Something like transforming the blouse to a bikini or even a skirt, just like I did with the Kaftan Blouse, huh? Nah! Not today, Sis.
Oh! wait! Maybe I really am a magician with the way I rocked my blouse because a lot of people don’t know that Ankara pieces are not only meant to be worn on Ankara. Just kidding
However, you can get creative with any outfit at all; change the original style, wear it in an odd and crazy way, and still look good! Because in the ‘Fashion world’, normal is boring!
Which of the looks would you prefer? which one do you think should be worn just in my parlour or in my head? feel free to tell me, I don’t bite.
Please don’t forget to share this with friends and foes alike. I’ll be waiting in the comment section. Have a pleasant week!
