How I make my skin glow with my daily skincare routine

Hi hi! You’re welcome to my space…

How has it been guys? what have you been up to? What’s popping?

I would have said my skin, but that would be so vain of me, right? right? and I already gave up that part of me anyway, so I would just be kind and not be a beech. I guess you’ve been doing just fine? and the stress is not overwhelming, yeah? Feels great to have you in here, please make yourself at home😊…

Today, I will be sharing my daily skincare routine… Wow! “Amy, is this you?” Who would have thought that I would share my skincare routine someday, with the condition of my face last year? God works mysteriously yunno?

See? This is more like letting you in on my treasured secrets… I think I should demand a consultation fee. Or what do you think?

For all I know, having a beautiful skin goes beyond the usual glowing and popping of heavily filtered pictures we see on social media. It’s also not the fact that you must have to wait for the sun to shine before you start glowing. Yea! a little sun-kiss here and there ain’t bad, but you would love your skin to still glow without the sun, right?

Long before my acne journey, I had a dull skin and my face was one or two shades darker than my body and that had been a source of worry to me. I always wished it was perfect, so I wouldn’t have to wear makeup to look good enough. Period-pimples made it even worse. I always dreaded seeing my period because of the pimples that always ushered it in. For some people, periods made them glow, mine made me ugly! uneven skin tone + pimples – Pathetic! Did I tell you that these period-pimples played a major role in the breakouts I had last year? Well, just in case this is your first time here, you can check my previous post on My acne journey.

After I had my major breakouts, I decided to be more consistent with my skincare routine because I didn’t want a repeat of one of my worst nightmares- skin issues. I discovered some lovely products that have helped keep my skin sane and my face saner… and the good thing is that I did not have to spend my life savings on getting these products. I always opt for very affordable products just in case I run out of stock in my dry days.

My daily skincare routine

To achieve a glowing skin I make use of:

  • Debbitone radiant black soap
  • honey
  • glycerine
  • Johnson Vita-rich brightening body lotion.

Debbitone radiant black soap

Debbitone Radiant black soap

Thankfully, I haven’t changed my mind about this goodness in a cup.  I have been using this soap since December 2019 and I haven’t seen any reason to change my mind about it. You can read my previous post on my acne journey to see how I used mine to achieve glowing skin, with shinkili money.

Aww… You’re grateful? I know, I know. You’re welcome.

Honey

natural honey

Honey is one skincare product that you should never run out of. It is a natural remedy for several skin conditions. In short, Its healing properties can never be overemphasized. Skincare specialists know this and that’s why most products made with honey come pricey.

Benefits of honey on the skin

  • Honey works as anti-ageing
  • Moisturizes the skin
  • Fights/prevent acne and pimples
  • Treatment of fungal infections
  • Honey is used for the treatment of cuts and burns
  • It is good for sensitive skins

I mix honey in virtually every skincare product I use. Asides its stickiness, there can never be an overdose of honey and there is no risk of side effects. It’s a must-have.

Glycerine

glycerine

Glycerine is an essential oil which I use to prevent skin dryness, and I use it mostly on my face. With glycerine, I no longer have to worry about my face drying out or being a shade darker than my body. And the best part is that I haven’t had any pimples on my face since January. Phew!

Benefits of glycerine on the skin

  • Moisturizes the skin
  • Reduces acne
  • Protects the skin from dryness by trapping moisture
  • Keeps the skin young and fresh
  • Heals the skin
  • It’s good for sensitive skins

I use the ‘Absolute glycerine’, which is readily available in most cosmetic shops. You can get it at the range of #120-200. Very cheap thing! And you mustn’t use this one. However, avoid using heavily scented glycerine. They could be harsh on your facial skin.

Johnson’s Vita-rich brightening body lotion

Johnson's Vita-rich Body Brightening cream

I have used tons of body creams; Vaseline, Olay, Dove, Aveeno, Jergens, and virtually all Johnson’s body lotions, especially the baby lotions, and a lot of those ‘7 days quick action miracles’ that always ended in premium tears.

I always look out for body creams with a sweet-smelling but mild fragrance. I used Vaseline even tone for a while but I didn’t love the fragrance, so, I went scouting again. Johnson baby lotion would have been the next best option, but the other times I used it, I sweated so much. Although, it was nice on my skin and made me smell like a baby. Thankfully, I found the Vita-rich product. I had never seen it before, I don’t know anyone who had used the cream. It was the fragrance that got me and I couldn’t resist it.

I used the first in February, the third one is halfway down. And I love it! The soft texture, the smooth and silky feeling it leaves- all day long, the delicious fragrance… Everything about it. You can get it in malls and supermarkets from #1700. I haven’t seen it in the open markets before, maybe because it doesn’t whiten in 2 hours.

Finally…

Like I always say, there’s no one-size-fits-all skincare product. I had to test so many waters to find these. You might not need to test, all skins ain’t the same. Just find out what works for your skin and what your skin reacts to before you choose any skincare products.  Remember, you don’t have to spend a fortune on skincare products to make your skin glow!

I hope you don’t blind me when next I see you😍.. just kidding. Happy glowing!
